1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Scano ("Scano", "we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use the Scano mobile application and related services.

Scano is designed to help users scan, organize, create, and share PDF documents from their mobile devices.

2. Documents and scanned images

Scano processes documents and images on your device in order to provide scanning features, including document detection, perspective correction, page organization, PDF creation, editing, and sharing.

Scano does not currently upload your scanned documents or PDF files to a Scano-operated server or cloud storage service.

Documents you create remain on your device unless you choose to share, export, copy, or otherwise send them using features available on your device.

3. Camera access

Scano requests access to your device camera so you can photograph and scan documents.

Camera access is used only when required to provide scanning functionality.

You can manage camera permissions through your device settings.

4. Photo library access

If you choose to import images from your photo library, Scano may request access to photos selected by you.

Scano uses those images to create or edit documents at your request.

5. Local storage

Scano may store information locally on your device in order to maintain features such as:

• recently created documents;
• document names and page information;
• application preferences;
• language preferences.

This information is primarily used to provide the functionality you request inside the app.

6. Advertising

Scano uses Google AdMob to display advertisements in the free version of the app.

Google Mobile Ads and its advertising partners may process certain information about your device and app usage for purposes including advertising, ad personalization where permitted, ad measurement, fraud prevention, frequency management, security, diagnostics, and regulatory compliance.

Information processed by advertising providers may include device identifiers, advertising identifiers when available and permitted, IP address, general device information, interactions with advertisements, and other information used to provide and measure advertising services.

Depending on your location, applicable law, device settings, consent choices, and Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission, advertisements may be personalized, non-personalized, limited, contextual, or otherwise restricted.

Scano does not sell your scanned documents or use the contents of your scanned documents to determine which advertisements are shown to you.

Google and its advertising partners process information according to their own privacy policies and applicable privacy requirements.

7. Consent and privacy choices

Scano uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage certain advertising privacy and consent requirements.

Depending on your country or region, Scano may display privacy messages that allow you to consent, decline consent, or manage how your information may be used for advertising.

These choices may affect whether advertising can be personalized and what information may be processed by advertising providers.

Declining personalized advertising or tracking does not necessarily remove advertisements from Scano. You may continue to receive non-personalized, limited, contextual, or other advertisements permitted under your privacy choices and applicable requirements.

Where required, Scano provides access within the app to available advertising privacy options so that you can review or update eligible privacy choices.

8. App Tracking Transparency and advertising identifiers

On supported Apple devices, Scano may request permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before allowing advertising services to access the device's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) or perform tracking that requires permission under Apple's policies.

Before the Apple permission request is displayed, Scano may show an informational message explaining how advertising helps support the free version of the app.

If you allow tracking, advertising providers such as Google AdMob may use the IDFA and other permitted information to provide and measure more relevant advertising, subject to your consent choices, device settings, and applicable law.

If you choose "Ask App Not to Track" or otherwise deny ATT permission, Scano will respect that choice. The IDFA will not be available for tracking that requires ATT authorization.

Advertising may still be shown when tracking permission is denied. Such advertising may be non-personalized, limited, contextual, or otherwise provided without the tracking permission that you declined.

Your decision regarding App Tracking Transparency does not prevent you from using Scano's document scanning, editing, PDF creation, organization, or sharing features.

You can review or change Apple's tracking permission later through your device's privacy settings, subject to the controls provided by iOS.

9. Analytics and advertising measurement

Scano does not currently use Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics as part of the Scano mobile application.

Advertising services such as Google AdMob may perform advertising measurement, diagnostics, fraud prevention, reporting, and related processing as part of their operation.

10. Accounts

Scano does not currently require users to create an account in order to scan and create documents.

If account-based features are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those features are made available.

11. Children's privacy

Scano is not directed to children and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

If we become aware that information has been collected in a manner that requires action under applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to address it.

12. Third-party services

Scano may rely on third-party services necessary to provide app functionality, advertising, platform services, operating system features, and related functionality.

Those third parties may process information according to their own terms, privacy policies, and legal obligations.

The primary advertising service currently used by Scano is Google AdMob.

13. Data retention

Documents and application information stored locally remain on your device until you delete the relevant document, clear app data, uninstall the application, or otherwise remove that information.

Third-party services may retain information according to their own retention policies and legal obligations.

14. Your choices

Depending on your device, location, and applicable privacy requirements, you may be able to:

• disable or change camera permissions;
• manage photo library permissions;
• manage advertising consent and privacy choices;
• allow or deny Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission;
• change tracking permission through iOS settings when available;
• delete locally stored Scano documents;
• uninstall Scano and remove locally stored application data.

15. Security

We take reasonable measures to design Scano in a way that limits unnecessary collection and transmission of document content.

No electronic system, advertising platform, operating system, network, or device can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Scano changes, when new features are introduced, when advertising practices change, or when legal or regulatory requirements change.

The latest version will always be available on this page, and the "Last updated" date will be revised when appropriate.
